Informal writing assignments, to be announced at various times over the semester. Collect these writings and put them together in a folder or binder and submit them at the end of the semester. A checklist of the contents will be linked here as the due date approaches.

General participation - 10%

Formal written assignments - 30%

Illustration essay - 15%

Critique essay - 15%

Group facilitation - 15%

Media scrapbook - 15%

Final project - 20%

Extra credit - up to 3%

You may earn extra credit points by attending special events and writing a 2-3 page essay analyzing the event and linking it to the content of the course. All extra credit essays are due during the final exam session. Each essay--provided it is at least equivalent to a B essay--is worth 1%. Some events will be announced through the SOCS e-list or on the course calendar. Please seek the instructor's approval for any event you identify yourself.
