Assessment
My attendance policy is available at this link. Please read my grading criteria carefully, and especially study the link on academic integrity and plagiarism. Most people who intend to be honest in their coursework don't fully understand the rules.
Grading for the course is broken down as follows. Click on the assignment's title to get to the assignment page, and read the directions carefully before beginning. Contact me with any questions you have--others may benefit from discussing your questions with the class as a whole.
Essay on Linda Hogan's Power - 5% of course grade
Theory application essay - 20% of course grade
Illustration essay - 20% of course grade
Group presentation with bibliography - 10% of course grade
Research essay - 20% of course grade
Portfolio - 5% of course grade
Portfolio cover essay - 5% of course grade
Take-home final comparative essay - 15% of course grade
Extra credit - Up to 3% (1% per essay)
Extra credit opportunities include special events and readings related to the course content. These will be announced over the semester. Extra credit essays (2-3 pages each) may be handed in as you complete them, or collected in a portfolio and handed in at the end of the semester. In each essay, analyze the connections between the event and the content of the course. If you learn about an event that relates to the course (although I haven't announced it), please let me know. gray@tcnj.edu
