The purposes of this assignment are:
To incorporate your Adopt-A-Book into the central concepts and recurring questions of the course
To practice applying theoretical concepts by reflecting on your Adopt-a-Book
Requirements and deadlines
Length: 1200-1500 words (4-5 pages). (There is no penalty for going over this length, but a much shorter essay may result in a failing grade.)
Due with Adopt-A-Book Log.

At least one of the readings from the first unit of the course (weeks 1-7), excluding your sources for the first essay or the midsemester essay
Optional sources: current news events, other readings from the course, relevant readings from other courses
Approach
In Section I of The Feminist Theory Reader, the editors have called our attention to four defining themes that inform feminist theories and feminist movements:
Choose one of these themes, analyzing the ways that your adopt-a-book addresses it. Focus on specific ways that your book amplifies your grasp of the complexities of this theme and what is at stake in theorizing it. Create an argument that leads you to a position on the issues that are at stake.
