They are encouraged to pursue traditionally female careers such as teaching. The girl who took business classes was encouraged to become a typist. This is only training to be in a secretarial position. It mentions how young children adjust their occupational aspirations to fit their developing images of themselves and where they belong in terms of gender, class, abilities, and interests.
