Gender at Work - International knowledge and capacity building network established by several feminist development organizations

Clicking on this website one very quickly notices its smooth, chic design and creative flow. The network has ambitious plans and intends to "change institutions" in order to "have a significant impact on gender equality." What makes the network strong, in particular, is the fact that it was founded by several organizations, such as the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation (CIVICUS), the United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM), and Women's Learning Partnership (WLP).   The combined strength of these organizations is certainly impressive. However, what does the Gender at Work network actually do? While the website boasts ambitious statements such as strengthening "women's voices and gender equality by working within organizations" and "increasing political accountability and support organizations to challenge social norms and gender inequity in the society in which they work" -the website seems to be more of an overview of what the network does, with limited access to concrete accomplishments. Nevertheless, it is a useful resource of organizations worldwide to come together and network. The website has a resources section that has relevant articles and descriptions of noteworthy books. -M.B.
